IPL PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION AT LUMIA
Ellipse IPL hair removal remains one of the world’s most popular aesthetic procedures. Anyone with excessive body hair is most likely a good candidate for laser hair removal.
The laser hair removal machine by Ellipse Selective Waveband Technology is nowadays commonly referred to as a hair removal laser although strictly speaking it is not a laser. Owing to Ellipse’s square pulse technology and dual mode filtering hair removal by Ellipse SWT systems is practically pain-free in contrast to many true laser treatments.
How does the Ellipse SWT/ laser hair removal treatment work?
To achieve long lasting or permanent hair removal, it is necessary to destroy the hair follicle from which individual hairs grow. Controlled pulses of light penetrate the epidermis and are absorbed by melanin in the hair contained in the follicle.
Melanin converts the light energy into heat. This heat is transferred to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, making it unable to produce a new hair. Hair in the resting (telogen stage) are treated later. The treatment is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle. This technique is called “Selective Photothermolysis”.
A typical regime consists of six treatments scheduled weeks or months apart to achieve optimum results. Prices per session are available on consultation however the following can be used as a guide:

All Photo Epilation treatments require a consultation and test patch to be carried out at least 48 hours prior to commencing treatment, even if you have had the treatment elsewhere. Please call us on 01786 831164 to book in for your complimentary consultation and patch test now.
You can NOT be treated if you have had ultra violet (UV) exposure from the sun or sun beds leaving extra activity of the melanin cells in your skin. Therefore prior to your treatments you must cover well with clothing and hats and sun block to prevent extra activity of the melanin cells in your skin.
Fake tans stain the outer skin cells, and this colour will intensify the IPL heat at the surface of the skin, therefore we cannot treat with IPL for at least four weeks after a fake tan application.
